La diferencia entre so y such es uno de los errores más comunes incluso entre los estudiantes avanzados de inglés. Vamos a explicarlo de forma sencilla y natural, con muchos ejemplos prácticos que puedes probar de inmediato.
Cuándo usamos “so”
Usamos so antes de un adjetivo (adjective) o un adverbio (adverb) para enfatizar algo.👉 So = tan / muy.
Ejemplos:
It’s so cold today! (¡Hace tanto frío hoy!)
She speaks so quickly. (Habla tan rápido.)
The movie was so interesting. (La película fue tan interesante.)
Recuerda: después de so nunca va un sustantivo — solo un adjetivo o adverbio.
Cuándo usamos “such”
Usamos such antes de un sustantivo (noun) o adjetivo + sustantivo.👉 Such = tan / semejante / un(a) … así.
Ejemplos:
It was such a beautiful day! (¡Fue un día tan bonito!)
He is such a nice person. (Es una persona tan amable.)
They had such good news. (Tenían tan buenas noticias.)
Una diferencia pequeña pero importante:
She is so beautiful. ✅
She is such a beautiful girl. ✅
❌ She is such beautiful. (Incorrecto)
Observa que such se refiere al sustantivo (girl), mientras que so solo se aplica al adjetivo (beautiful).

so much / so many – so much time, so many people
such a lot of – such a lot of work!
so + that – It was so late that I missed the bus.
